About Us!

Richard and Shruti met with the help of technology on Ok Cupid in 2014. They were working towards their graduate degrees at Texas A&M University in College Station. With each of them in the trenches of school, a little technology was needed to help find each other! Their first date was at a cozy pizza restaurant. Richard was standing outside the restaurant as Shruti pulled in. She affectionately remembers Richard wearing real cowboy boots, a brown suede coat, and a belt with a buckle. She was greeted with the traditional Aggie “Howdy!” This was a first for the girl from the Windy City up north! At the restaurant the carbs and cheese were good but the conversation was even better! They both realized they shared a passion for knowledge, the outdoors, and staying active. A week after the first date, Shruti was off to a conference in Dallas. They didn’t think they would be able to meet till after, but to Shruti’s surprise, on the day she was scheduled to leave Richard asked if there was any way they could meet before she left. So they scheduled a lunch date and enjoyed the afternoon over burgers, fries, and beer. As time went on, they got to know each other better and well…the rest is history!

Five years later after having finished school and building a wonderful life together, Richard proposed! Shruti was driving to the ranch on a chilly November Friday night. Tired from the work week, she was ready to spend a relaxing weekend with Richard on the ranch. It was pitch dark by the time she pulled in. Richard came outside and immediately told her that he had built something cool and really wanted to show her. For those of you who know Richard, you know this man can build anything out of anything! So this wasn’t a surprise to Shruti. As Richard took her to the other side of the ranch Shruti was wondering “What are we going to be able to see in the dark??” As she thought this, she heard the hum of a big engine and voila! Light! Richard had taken careful effort to string dozens of white Christmas lights around a beautiful oak tree. And in true Richard fashion, he had found a way to connect a generator to a tractor to power the lights. Under a lighted arch (that of course he built), Richard asked Shruti to marry him!
